My 1st Live Model Portrait

**DO NOT USE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION BELOW!**

I'm so happy to put this up on my DA! Just as the title says, this is the first live model portrait I've ever drawn. It was an interesting experience for me to draw the face of someone who was actually standing (or in this case, sitting) just a few feet from my drawing board as I worked.

The medium I used here is compressed charcoal, and the portrait is a charcoal reduction drawing (where the paper or canvas is filled in with charcoal and evened out, before using an eraser to reduce the charcoal to make lighter parts where you want them, or adding more charcoal to parts that you want to be darker). The paper is 18 inches by 24 inches.

This drawing was picked by a panel to be in the student art exhibit (this week through Monday, I think. Idk) at my college's art gallery, so I'm very proud of myself on this one. ^^

I put this on my Imgur account, too:

Let me know what y'all think!

I put a lot of time, hard work, and effort into this piece. It doesn't deserve to be stolen. No artist's artwork deserves to be stolen. Thanks.

Hello, I am Issachar Bacang and I am an editor and critic. Let us begin.
First of all: Technique.I applaud your use of negative space and the fade effect brought on from what I think is charcoal on white.

The face is fairly symmetrical but it is not the symmetry of the face that that makes a face seem realistic, it is its features. The eyes seem a little too close to each other, the cheekbones look squished inwards making the mouth look puckered and the eyebrows and sockets are too thin and close to each other.

Aside from that, this passes as decent and acceptable and might even chronicle a new style itself. The reason why I really like this art is that it strikes as familiar. It's somewhat lack of realism reminds me of the contemporary art styles prevalent in my home country.

Aside from that, good job, good start and please do continue.
